MID AND HIGH FREQUENCY DRIVER
The mid and high frequency transducer is based on the AMT principal (Air Motion Transformer) invented by the German physicist Oskar Heil. In an AMT, the reproduction of sound takes place in a very different way to conventional ribbon tweeters. In this transducer, the diaphragm is formed by longitudinal folds and in the straight face of each one of these folds, there is a printed conductive copper track.
The advantage is the small and very controlled movement of each fold, moving the folds in and out from each other like an accordion, accelerating the surrounding air with precision and producing a near perfect acoustical output.
The design moves air at great speed and the folded geometry provides a surface area more than four times larger than that of an equivalent compression driver or dome tweeter. This design ensures exceptional dynamics and an incredible transient response, vastly superior to that of any conventional tweeter.
The benefit to the listener is a live sound experience with a sonic quality, timbre, definition and clarity that is simply unsurpassable.
BASS DRIVER
The bass driver is an 18 inch (460mm) driver designed to provide professional quality low frequency sound reinforcement. The driver can produce very high output with extremely low distortion and very low excursion combining to give a tightly controlled output to the very lowest frequencies of the audio spectrum.
The driver selected, with optimised Thiele and Small Parameters (Patent Pending), is designed to produce very accurate transient response in the tuned sealed Birchwood enclosure.
In addition, there are five key advantages of this driver and design for the audiophile.
-
A low frequency transducer with a surface area and displacement volume approximately ten times larger than a standard 6 Inch low frequency transducer used in most other floor standing domestic loudspeakers, producing effortless deep controlled bass. In fact to have a low frequency transducer with such a large cone surface area is truly revolutionary and unique in the domestic speaker market today.
-
A controlled off axis dispersion µ curve ( Patent Pending) matched with the AMT to minimise side wall reflections in the critical mid frequency vocal range improving sound image and depth compared to conventional systems.
-
A fine-tuned enclosure to ensure very accurate transient response with a smooth low frequency roll off designed to complement the low frequency behaviour of typical domestic rooms.
-
A truly symmetrical suspension system and enclosure damping arrangement to produce a true live sounding low frequency experience to the listener.
-
A true frequency wide system sensitivity of 97dB 1W/1m providing sound pressure levels not normally available to the audiophile with low sensitivity standard loudspeakers.
The benefit to the listener is a live sound experience with deep controlled bass sonic quality
